Renters Income Qualification

In New York City (or NYC), qualifying for renting an apartment is not straightforward. In particular, one of the “un-told” rule is that you need to make – you might heard this if you already rented an apartment in NYC – at least 40 times the rent. But what does that mean ? It is very simple, actually. It means that if you take the monthly rent of an apartment, your total household income should be greater than 40 times that amount. For example, if you want to rent an apartment that is $2,000 a month, you need to have a total household income of at least $80,000 (i.e., $2,000 multiplied by 40).
